FUNDRAISERS

As a nonprofit organization, Project Youth OC relies on funding from a variety of sources, including corporations, foundations, individual donors, and special events. We know that fundraising can be a challenge, but also rewarding, since it helps us to fund our extremely effective programs. How can you help, you may ask? By simply getting involved – consider hitting the green in our annual golf tournament, get active by running or walking in the OC Marathon, inquire on how you can join our Society of Fellows or Food & Wine Society. You’re guaranteed to have a great time as you support Project Youth OC.

Food & Wine Society

Project Youth OC’s Food & Wine Society was created by Ygal and Sheila Sonenshine in 1996. This membership group was established to provide financial support to Project Youth OC by bringing together people who enjoy great wine paired with delicious food and the opportunity to support our community. Wine education is provided by our Cellar Master Ygal Sonenshine, who never fails to entertain while educating. Membership in the Society is limited to members of the bench and bar and their spouses. An annual dinner fee is due in December, along with a one-time non-refundable cellar fee. The Society hosts two dinners a year.

Golf Tournament

Since 1997, SHORTSTOP Golf Classic has raised almost $1.8 million to help Project Youth OC strengthen our communities and improve the lives of those in need.  It is our largest fundraiser.

Its success is due in no small part to our wonderful supporter, John C. Herklotz, who has been a very special friend of Project Youth OC, and a title sponsor of the event for the past 20 years.

OC Marathon

The OC Marathon is held annually in May and is quickly becoming one of our most popular fundraisers.  For the past 16 years, Project Youth OC has been a designated charity of the Marathon, successfully raising over $750,000 over the years we’ve participated.  Project Youth OC hosts a friendly competition among participating law firms – winners boast the fastest running times, the most participants running, the most volunteers, and the most funds raised.
