“Fellows” programs are among the most utilized fundraising techniques of Bar Foundations around the country, designed to cultivate individual lawyer and professional gifts over a multi-year period. Replicated from a model developed by the American Bar Foundation, “Fellows” programs are, in essence, donor societies, created to recognize attorneys, judges, and other professionals and public servants who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities.
Funds raised through the Society of Fellows help sustain Project Youth OCBF’s mission of keeping at-risk youth out of jail, in school, healthy and drug free through education, counseling, mentoring, and family strengthening. Each year, Project Youth hosts a Society of Fellows event to honor its members, selecting one member to receive the Distinguished Fellows Award and one judicial member to receive the Distinguished Judicial Fellows Award. Upon initiation, Fellows receive a Certificate of Membership, a Society of Fellows lapel pin that identifies them as a Fellow member, and recognition at Project Youth events & in publications. To find out more information about the Society of Fellows, please contact Nancy Garcia, Associate Director, via email at ngarcia@pyocbf.org or by phone at (714) 480-1925, ext. 108.

12th Annual Society of Fellows Distinguished Fellow Award
The 12th Annual Society of Fellows Distinguished Fellow Award of 2019 went to Arthur G. Kidman for his outstanding services on behalf of Project Youth OCBF and the Orange County community.
Mr. Kidman is a longtime supporter of Project Youth OCBF and Society of Fellows member. He is a wonderful Project Youth OCBF volunteer and friend and we know the entire Orange County community, especially the legal community, is fortunate to have him working so hard to better it. He is one of our first Fellows and strongly believes that investing in the prevention and early intervention programs betters our community and provides compelling evidence to all of the need to support the Society of Fellows.
2021 Society of Fellows Chairman’s Message

It is an honor and a privilege to Chair Project Youth OCBF’s Society of Fellows for 2021.
For 14 years, Society of Fellows has served a critical role for Project Youth OCBF, by connecting the Orange County community with our organization in a meaningful way that also provides much needed funding for our youth programs. The Society now stands at 239 members. Since inception, the Society has raised over $461,075 money that directly supports our youth services.
From our juvenile diversion program (SHORTSTOP) to our college preparation and support (Higher Education Mentoring) and summer employment (Project SELF) programs, the Society’s participation helps Project Youth OCBF to build the future of Orange County. Thousands of local youth have benefitted from our support; and, now, many of them enjoy successful professional careers. In fact, a number of our program graduates now support these very programs themselves, with time and money.
As we continue our Comprehensive Campaign, we look forward to working with our existing Society members and reaching new members. The members of the Society help us spread our message and grow our support base in the community.
As we turn the page on a challenging 2020 and look to 2021 as a time of renewal and new beginnings, join us in our campaign, our mission, and our programs. Join us at Society events, consider how you can help us make a difference, spread the word on the opportunity to be part of something special.
Thank you for your time, support, and commitment to Project Youth OCBF – we won’t let you or the community down.
Sincerely,
Mark D. Erickson
Chairman, Society of Fellows
